The Lana Dubai
Construct was entrusted with the brand creation of The Lana – Dorchester Collection's first hotel in the UAE at the heart of Dubai's Business Bay. This included the naming, strategic positioning, Masterbrand identity and the identities for the hotel's multiple F&B outlets.
Anchored by strategic foundations that married Dorchester Collection's prestigious heritage with Dubai's forward-looking dynamism, the overarching visual identity explores the relationship between traditional materials, craftsmanship and modern design.
Taking time to carefully study Arabic script, the materiality of place and the hotel's distinguished position at the water's edge, our designers captured the historical culture of Dubai with a contemporary, timeless feel. The logotype combines modernist clean lines with calligraphic flare, offering a subtle synergy of design simplicity and an elevated Middle Eastern influence.
The accompanying monogram takes the distinctive L from the word marque, set within an architectural frame inspired by the curves of historic Arabic design and the arches found inside the Foster + Partners designed hotel and residences.
The character and qualities of the local landscape informed the colour and brand palette, bringing together a contrast of textures and mirroring the transitional moments of the Gilles et Boissier designed interiors. The brand pattern was inspired by an elegant and intentionally architectural interpretation of repetition, with flowing organic shapes that also speak to the tranquility and vastness the immediate surroundings.
